Now that we’re getting settled into our pretty new home in Charleston, SC – it’s time for me to decorate! Our studio has been keeping us busy with lots of fun gift projects (that I can’t wait to tell you about!) but that means that we aren’t making super fast progress on decorating our home. This past weekend, though, we took a couple days off to enjoy Charleston & I got some fun things that I’m loving for our new home!
After doing a little instagram scouting, I ended up down the rabbit hole… you know how it goes: you click one profile, then another from there profile, then another… then another… and then you end up somewhere wonderful!
Well, I came across this beautiful maker, Welcome Beads, and immediately wanted one! I didn’t know exactly what they were or why I wanted it but I did. Then I found out a little more about what they were and it became an obsession – I HAD to have some in my home!
So here’s the deal. In Low Country, welcome beads are hung in the home to let your family, friends & guests know they are welcome. You hang them outside, in your guest room, bathroom… basically wherever to let some of your southern hospitality shine through. Simple right? Well, I’m a sucker for sweet traditions & grabbed one of these cuties to put in our entryway between the guest bedroom & guest bath.
If you want to grab yours, you can check out the incredibly sweet maker & seller I got mine from right here.
Since moving here, I am beyond obsessed with all things Charleston. I had an amazing meeting with Candlefish this past week and the gal I met with mentioned that they have a limited edition Charleston candle. Well, duh…. off we went to the King Street shop to grab my very own sweet Charleston smelling candle. And it’s pretty much everything I want. I have it hanging out in my living room and it’s making the room smell amazing even before I’ve lit it!
And how adorable is the candle in it’s pretty glass & gold container that fits perfectly with the decor of the rest of my home?! #meanttobe
Okay, so now things are getting a bit out of control… I have the worst ‘green thumb’ ever. But I’m obsessed with plants here. I don’t know what it is about our new home that makes me want all the pretty tropical plants but here I am… attempting to keep something alive.
I was stuck on getting a banana leaf plant and as we were walking the aisles at the nursery I spotted a tiny little bit of blush pink. Then I saw the pretty blue & white pot that I am obsessed with right now and that will be accenting our home. And then idea’s of banana leaf plants just went out the window… for now.
So the story is this: This fun plant is called a bromeliad. (Fun fact: another type of bromeliad is a pineapple!!!) It barely needs water and LOVES humid hot weather. So I feel pretty confident that I can stick it outside and say a little prayer that it survives. (But I’m totally open to any suggestions you may have on how to make sure this pretty plant keeps on blooming!)
So happy Friday babes – I’m off to entertain some of our first house guests since we’ve moved here & hitting the beach! xoxo!
