At the tip of the Charleston peninsula is a neighborhood that needs no introduction. Historic mansions, tree lined streets & elaborate window boxes make South of Broad a Charleston favorite. You’ll often locals running along The Battery or tourists enjoying a carriage ride in this beautiful antebellum neighborhood.
Walking around this mature & quiet neighborhood on a sunny day takes you back in time. It’s one of my favorite ways to relax and enjoy this one of a kind city. South of Broad is located, you guessed it, south of Broad Street. This primarily residential neighborhood also offers some of the most beautiful views of the Charleston Harbor.
Two of Charleston’s favorite things when it comes to their homes? Beautifully colored doors & gorgeous floral window boxes! Take a peek at this Instagram popular home on Tradd Street & count the number of window boxes you see during your stroll!
THINGS TO DO & SEE SOUTH OF BROAD
White Point Gardens: This 5.7 acre public park is located at the southern most point of the Charleston peninsula. Take in views of the Charleston harbor, sit underneath the mature trees in the park and enjoy a picnic & read the historical plaques to learn more about the vast history of this beautiful Charleston spot.
Rainbow Row: Perhaps one of the most popular streets in all of Charleston, these brightly colored Georgian row houses were built in the 18th century. It’s definitely worth walking by!
Nathaniel Russell House: Take a tour through this historic landmark built in the early 1800’s. (Purchase tickets & see tour times here.)
The Calhoun Mansion: Step back in time & tour Charleston’s largest single family residence. The Calhoun Mansion was called the “handsomest and most complete private residence in the south” when it was built. (Purchase tickets & see tour times here.)
Think that living in a world class, historic neighborhood is for you? Single family homes South of Broad start at about $850,000 and can go to over $15,000,000+. It’s a small price to pay to live in America’s No. #1 City.
