Let’s talk about about where to get stock photos for real estate agents! Chances are this scenario sounds familiar: It’s a Wednesday morning and have nothing to post on your social media & need some content quick. So you quickly google an image, save it to your phone and upload it onto your Instagram. *WHEW* Done. And then you move on with your day. Well friend…
YOU JUST STOLE PHOTOS & VIOLATED COPYRIGHT LAW.
Which means, you took random photos that weren’t yours and used them without permission. The fine? Well that will be anywhere from $200-$150,000. (Yes, you read that right.)
Right now, you may be like, “Yeah right, but that’s how everyone gets their photos… isn’t it?” Nope. There are much better ways that aren’t going to get you in trouble. Let’s look at those, shall we?
WHAT YOU NEED ARE CALLED STOCK PHOTOS.
As a real estate agent you are going to need lots of lifestyle images to use for your website, marketing materials, social media & more. So where do you get these stock photos? There are 3 types of stock photos for real estate agents that you can use.
1. Your own content.
2. Free stock photo websites.
3. Paid stock photo websites.
So let’s break these down a bit further and learn how where to get each type of content.
CREATING YOUR OWN LIFESTYLE IMAGES
The best way to make your feed truly unique is to create your own lifestyle images for your brand. The benefits of creating your own images is that they will be a on-brand photos that are unique to you! No one else will have permission to use them.
To get branded lifestyle photos search local photographers in your area who offers lifestyle photography. You can plan monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or even just yearly sessions to grab some unique content for your business.
The cons of creating your own content can be cost (expect to pay anywhere from $150-$800 for a lifestyle shoot) & you may end up needed additional images as the year goes on. But that’s okay! That’s where the other 2 options come in handy! You can mix your own content in with free & paid stock photos.
FREE STOCK PHOTO SITES
There are websites that offer high quality stock photos for free! These are great to take advantage of, especially if spending money on paid stock photos or creating your own lifestyle photos just aren’t in the budget right now.
PAID STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY SITES
The final option is using paid stock photography and this can be broken into 2 different categories: pay per photo or membership.
If you just need a few specific photos, I recommend just purchasing each image separately. Creative Market is my go-to and has a huge variety of individual stock photos and even collections that can fit your brand.
For businesses that know they will need lots of content & want access to a library of stock photos, memberships may be the right fit for you! Many of these stock photo memberships are built for ‘femrepreneurs’ and offer beautiful office & desktop style images.
